The first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI was supposed to premiere on December 5,
2023. It arrived a day early instead. A now-suspended account on X posted the
whole thing ahead of schedule, and rather than spend the night fighting the leak,
Rockstar simply put the real version up.

Ninety-one seconds. It opens on Leonida, the fictional state standing in for
Florida, and spends most of its runtime on texture rather than plot: beaches,
airboats in the wetlands, a strip club parking lot, an alligator wandering into a
convenience store, phone-shot vertical video of a street fight. The whole thing
is framed as though half of it were filmed by the people living in it.

Lucia is the first playable woman in the series' main line. The trailer
introduces her in a prison interview, then puts her in a car with a man the game
has not named yet.

Within two days it had passed the lifetime view count of the Grand Theft Auto V
reveal trailer, at roughly 101 million views. At the time, Rockstar said the game
was coming in 2025.
